Host an Egg-Cellent Easter Dinner Party for Kids

Share This:

Although Easter dinner is often centered around the food and the reason for celebration, one thing you do not want to forget is the kids. Easter is a great way to start new traditions in your family and focusing on the kids can keep things light, entertaining, and just plain fun. Here are some great ways you can incorporate kid-proof activities into your Easter dinner.

Party Games

It is always great to have games at parties, and Easter is no different. While an Easter egg hunt is the go-to activity for this holiday, there are a few others you can include to switch things up a little. An egg toss is a great way to incorporate some colored eggs into the party games. However, you will want to make sure that these eggs are not hardboiled, and that you have an equal number of kids, as they will need to be paired in twos. Start with each set of partners approximately three feet away from one another and then toss to their partners. Any team whose egg cracks is eliminated. Have the remaining teams take a step back. Repeat until only one team is standing.

Other great games include a traditional sack race, although you can call it a bunny hope race instead. If you do not have burlap sacks on hand, pillowcases work as great substitutes. You can even turn Pin the Tail on the Donkey into Pin the Tail on the Rabbit. Use a large poster of Peter Rabbit and place double-sided tape on cotton balls. If you are going to have an Easter egg hunt, as no eggcellent Easter party would be complete without one, change up the game by having each kid search for a specific colored egg, and fill them with small tokens, such as coins, rubber bouncy balls, and more, as opposed to just candy.

Party Crafts

In order to calm the party down a bit is by letting the kids make some crafts. You might want to have craft time prior to the outdoor games, as some of the crafts can be used outdoors. For instance, you can have the kids make little Easter baskets out of old milk jugs cut in half that they can use to carry all of the Easter eggs they find on the hunt. You could also have an egg painting party. In this case, however, you definitely want to put some protective covering down on your granite countertops, such as old newspaper. This will help protect your granite countertops from paint stains. Make sure to have a variety of different colors on hand for painting, so that the kids can choose their favorites.

For a little more excitement, bring in some glitter glue pens, stickers, and crayons. Make sure that the eggs are boiled and not peeled prior to the kids painting and decorating their eggs. Another fun activity is making Easter visors out of craft foam and cotton balls. Party Recipes

No party, including an Easter party, would be complete without some eggs-tra delicious food. Because the kids will be consuming quite a bit of sweet treats, you want to keep the actual meal pretty simple, healthy, and delicious. Opt for foods that are easy to eat on the go, such as appetizers and finger foods. Some great ideas include Easter egg bread, fruit salads, vegetables, and of course, deviled eggs. Make use of your granite countertops and display all the food in a buffet style. While the kids are outdoors have someone set up the buffet, and make sure the little ones wash their hands prior to digging in. In order to wash down all the delicious foods, you will want to have a beverage on hand. We suggest Easter party punch.

For this recipe, you will need 64 ounces of pineapple juice, 24 ounces of orange juice, 12 ounces each of lime juice and lemon juice, 25 ounces of ginger ale, and 24 ounces of club soda. Stir all ingredients together and add up to 1 ½ cups of sugar or Splenda – a better option to help cut down on sugar intake for the day. If you party includes adult guests, you could have vodka on hand for them to mix into this Easter drink, just to kick things up a little.

There are many great ways to incorporate kid-friendly activities, crafts, games, and food into an equally adult-friendly Easter dinner party. Make sure you plan ahead for everything that you will need, and to ensure you have enough supplies – eggs in particular – for all of your party guests to enjoy.
