Valentine’s Day Dinner for Two

Share This:

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, but it’s never too late to start thinking about romance. In fact, if you’re beginning to plan a kitchen remodel, a romantic kitchen design theme may be just what you’re looking for. Although the word romance is often intertwined with shades of pink, whimsical chandeliers, and femininity, there’s so much more to a romantic kitchen design than just that. Here, you’ll find some well meshed design schemes that help bring romance into the kitchen all year long.

When Romantic & Rustic Collide

If you’re not into the frills and colors of a traditional romantic theme, you may want to consider a rustic romantic design scheme instead. You get to incorporate the outdoors, clean lines, and rich earth tones with pops of color that finish off the romantic side of this combination.

This is the perfect design theme to bring romance into the kitchen, with a bright and cheery feeling, without the pink floral aspects of romance. In order to accomplish a rustic romantic kitchen, you can use decorative tiling, such as a bright, yet light, blue to create a spectacular backsplash.

In addition, choose a dark brown/orange colored floor tile, being sure to incorporate some of the blue backsplash color into the floor design. To continue the flow of the rustic feeling, add rich wood beams across white ceilings, bringing the eye up and down the walls of your kitchen. Finish with white cabinetry and a white granite countertop for the perfect romantic design, that’s definitely more masculine than traditional romantic spaces that are blasted with pink.

A Princess’ Dream

If you want to get in touch with your feminine side, or just love the idea of having a princess’ dream in your kitchen, you’ll want to choose some more traditional elements. In this design scheme, you will be able to elegantly bring whimsy, floral décor, and romance into the kitchen without making the space feel over-decorated or tacky.

Start with an antique white finish on the cabinetry, complete with vintage crown molding that has a very intricate design carved into it. Create a tile backsplash using antique gold tiles that are textured or have a design on them. Be sure to use a similar colored tile on the floor to help bring the room together. Choose a wallpaper that brings the pink floral aspect of romance into the kitchen in a whimsical fashion with a neutral base color, such as antique white. Complete the design with dark charcoal-colored granite countertops.

Neutral & Opulent

If you’re still not convinced that a pink romantic kitchen will work for you, you may want to consider another option – neutral and opulent. In this romantic kitchen design, you bring the romance into the room through light fixtures and accessories, which can work with almost any basic kitchen design scheme. Start with white walls and white cabinetry. From there, you can choose bronze-colored appliances, dark hardwood floors, and a dark granite countertop that has a brown hue.  Choose dark bronze for your appliances, dark hardwood floors, and top off your counters with a brown-toned granite countertop. The icing on the cake? An elegant crystal chandelier and fresh flowers year round help increase the feeling of romance in this kitchen scheme.

Individual Elements of Romance

If you’re not completely sold on the idea of a kitchen completely designed around romance, consider adding just a few hints here and there throughout your kitchen. For instance, use antique white wall colorings, and exquisitely detailed moldings throughout the space. You could also incorporate a large crystal chandelier into just about any design scheme to bring a touch of romance to the room. In addition, adding curvy elements to the room can also help create romantic aspects of your kitchen. You can do this with a curvy faucet and curvy cabinet hardware.

Ambient lighting is another way to create a romantic feeling without going pink, flowery, or frilly. Place lighting under your upper cabinetry, above your upper cabinetry, and throughout the remainder of the kitchen. This will help reduce the amount of overbearing bright lights in one location of the room. Also, having lights on dimmer switches helps to create the romantic feeling when desired.

As you have discovered, there are several different ways to bring romance into your kitchen. Whether you choose an all-out pink, whimsical design plan that shouts romantic the instant you enter the kitchen, or a combination of rustic and romantic, it’s still a great design option to consider. Furthermore, you can always add little touches of romance throughout the room, to increase that feeling.

Once you have remodeled your kitchen, you can now prepare a romantic dinner for two, and have the perfect date night with your significant other without ever having to leave your home. If you want to create special moods, add candlelight and other sources of ambient lighting throughout the space. Remodel your kitchen to feel the romance of Valentine’s Day all year long.
