Fall Decorating With Black Granite Countertops

Share This:

It is not very often that you see black granite countertops in a kitchen. This is most often because they tend to be difficult to keep clean – that is if you have little fingers running across them all day long. However, just a quick wipe with a soft cloth can remove the fingerprints, handprints, and in some cases, footprints, and you will have a shiny black granite countertop in your kitchen. There is one major benefit to having black granite countertops in your kitchen, however, and that is decorating for fall – particularly as the months move closer to October and Halloween – the best time of year to have black countertops. Here, you will discover, not only some neat Halloween decorating ideas made easy by your black granite countertops, but some other unique ways to deck out your kitchen this fall season!

A Cornucopia of Options

Due to the dark color of black granite countertops, adding bright colors on top tends to look amazing. Start with a simple natural looking cornucopia and add in brightly colored vegetables and fruits. You can use real if you have them on hand, which would make a great place to store fresh fruits and vegetables. However, you could also use artificial fruits and vegetables, which would allow you to keep the countertop decoration in place without having to refill it as things are eaten.

Not Bobbing For Apples

Another great idea is set up similar to the game of bobbing for apples. In this unique piece of décor, however, you do something a little different. Once you place in the apples – real or artificial – pour in the water and add a few floating candles. This creates an amazingly romantic centerpiece for your kitchen island or bar top.

Fruits & Vegetables on Display

Aside from piling all of your fruits and vegetables into a cornucopia, there are other ways you can add some fall colors to your black granite countertops. For instance, a small tiered wire shelf. You can place larger item, such as squash and small pumpkins on the larger bottom shelf. You can place oranges, pears, and other fall colored fruits and vegetables in the two smaller shelves. Add a few décor pieces using corn cobs and artificial leaves and you will have a decked out countertop in no time.

Pumpkins Anyone?

What says fall more than falling leaves? Pumpkins. Simply setting a few bright orange pumpkins, small squashes and gourds around your black granite countertops can really brighten up the space. It helps to bring the outdoors in and give your kitchen a little touch of the outdoor fall weather. If you are worried about the pumpkins, squashes, and gourds rotting on your granite, you can decorate with artifical pumpkins. In addition, you can use large clear glass cookie jars or vases and place the pumpkins inside. This creates a unique display that will still brighten up your kitchen with the fall spirit.

Flowers are Perfect

There are so many different times of year that flowers really brighten up a space and help you get in tune with the season. Fall is no different. Adding vases – shaped like pumpkins if you would like – filled with dried flowers or flowers that are bright orange, red, and yellow, and placing them on your black granite countertops is an excellent idea. It really helps bring the outdoors in, allowing you to experience the colors of fall each time you step into the kitchen.

Traditional Fall Décor

It only makes sense that you include some traditional fall décor in your kitchen. This would include placing some turkeys in honor of Thanksgiving around your black granite countertops. After all, Thanksgiving is an event that takes place in the kitchen. You can create a kitchen island centerpiece with a ceramic or porcelain turkey as the main ‘dish’. Place it on an off-white doily, and decorate around the turkey with other traditional fall elements, such as pumpkins, gourds, leaves, and more.

There Must Be Leaves

Aside from pumpkins, leaves are a signature staple of fall. It is during the fall season that the leaves begin to change colors and start falling off the trees. While you probably are not a fan of them piling up in your yard, they do make for some great decorating items. For instance, placing a long swag of leaves across the back of your black granite countertops really enhances the fall feeling in the kitchen.

Halloween is Just Around the Corner

Black granite countertops come in handy when it comes time to decorating for Halloween, which is a fall holiday. Using the dark background, you can create spooky displays of Jack-O-Lanterns, ghosts, goblins, and witches. Be creative.

These are just a few ideas on how you can get started with fall decorating even if you have black granite countertops. Take the time to play around with different elements, creating new pieces each year on different parts of your countertop.
